Hackett Holland Residential refurbishment

Hackett Holland -0

In 2005 I created a Flash-based portfolio website for this architecture practice. The design stood the test of time and 5 years later my client returned to me to integrate a content management system, add a blog, and give the design a refresh.

In light of the wide abundance of architecture sites with white backgrounds, we used a dark grey, which also alludes to the company’s shift to higher budget, larger residential projects. Layout was purposely kept plain and simple, and some ‘sparkle’ added on the project selection page, where thumbnail images only appear with mouse movement – adding interactivity and a sense of exploration.

The build was done using WordPress (Content Management System), to which I added my bespoke designed template and my own gallery plugin in order to easily manage the project images. WordPress was the obvious choice since it has blogging capabilities in-built, and is extremely easy to use. It allows my client to update the website themselves, modifying project text and adding images as projects progress, without additional fees.
